Weekly email per town & mood

Sign up 'Köln · Opera' → confirm email → one email every Thursday.

Example

Maria from Köln picks 'Köln · Jam Session' on the website and enters her address. She receives a confirmation email and only after clicking the link does anything start. From then on, one email every Thursday, for example: 'Kellerbühne — Wednesday session, 21:00 · Café Nachtklang — Jam, 20:30'. One click 'Abmelden' at the bottom, and 30 days later her address is deleted for good.

How it works
  • A visitor picks a town and one of the eleven moods and enters an email address.
  • A confirmation email is sent, and only after the visitor clicks the link is the subscription active (double opt-in).
  • Each week, one email with the verified dates for that town and mood is sent.
Data protection
  • Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 7(2) UWG).
  • Stored: email, town, mood, language, time and wording of the consent, nothing more.
  • One-click unsubscribe in every email; data deleted 30 days after unsubscribing, consent proof kept 3 years.
What we never do
  • No open or click tracking pixels.
  • No passing on of addresses.
  • No advertising for third parties.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.

Venue accessibility details

Venue ticks 'step-free entry' → icon on its events.

Example

The operator of an example club ticks 'step-free entry', 'accessible toilet' and 'seating' on the organiser form. From then on, every event card for a show there — say a Friday concert — shows a small step-free icon and a seat icon. The venue is responsible for the facts; Noktürn never inspects the building.

How it works
  • The organiser ticks facts about the venue, for example step-free entry, accessible toilet, seating or hearing loop.
  • Small icons appear on that venue's events.
Data protection
  • The data describe the building, not people.
  • The organiser is responsible for the facts, and the card says so.
What we never do
  • No health data of visitors.
  • No question about a visitor's own disability.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.

Artist pages that build themselves

Band 'Space Cats' listed at 4 gigs → page; the band claims it after owner check.

Example

The band 'Space Cats' shows up on four verified listings — Kellerbühne, Café Nachtklang and two more. Noktürn builds one page listing exactly those four dates. Guitarist Lena wants it: she emails a photo of her ID, the owner checks it by hand and unlocks the page for her. Anyone who objects by email gets the page removed.

How it works
  • When a stage name appears on several verified listings, a page with those dates is built.
  • The artist can claim the page only after the owner has checked their identity by hand.
Data protection
  • Only stage names from public listings (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Objection at any time by email; the page is then removed.
What we never do
  • No ratings or reviews.
  • No private details such as real names, photos or contact data unless the artist adds them after claiming.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.

Venue widget

Venue pastes one line of code → its next dates show on its own site.

Example

An example venue, the 'Kellerbühne', pastes one line of code into its own website. From then on, the next three Noktürn dates appear in the venue's own footer — without cookies, without tracking, without any knowledge of who is reading them.

How it works
  • A venue pastes one line of code into its own website, and its next Noktürn dates appear there.
Data protection
  • The widget sets no cookies and does no tracking.
  • Only the hosting service processes the IP address technically to deliver it (server logs).
What we never do
  • No visitor profiles.
  • No use on websites other than the venue's own.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.

Artist tour page

All 12 dates of one tour on one page.

Example

All 12 dates of one Space Cats tour on one page: Köln (Kellerbühne), Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna — in date order, each date with its own venue and link. Nothing else on the page.

How it works
  • All verified dates of one tour are shown together on one page.
Data protection
  • Same basis and objection route as artist pages.
What we never do
  • No ratings.
  • No personal data beyond the stage name.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.

"Where the scene went" year review

Each December: 'Cologne 2027: 1,240 dates, 96 venues' — all moods counted equally.

Example

Each December one public page appears, for example: 'Köln 2027: 1,240 dates, 96 venues'. All eleven moods are counted equally — no ranking of which mood was 'best', no names, no profiles.

How it works
  • Every December, one public page shows totals per town, such as number of dates and venues, with all moods counted equally.
Data protection
  • Only aggregated anonymous totals.
What we never do
  • No personal data.
  • No individual profiles.
  • No ranking of moods.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.

Press and radio pack

One page with logo, facts and the story 'a Cologne founder builds a gig guide in 93 languages' — sent personally to WDR, Stadtrevue, blogs.

Example

David downloads one page — Noktürn logo, facts and the founder story 'a Cologne founder builds a gig guide in 93 languages' — and sends it himself to WDR, Stadtrevue and a blog. Noktürn sends nothing automatically and keeps no journalist list.

How it works
  • One page with logo, facts and the founder story that the owner sends to press and radio by hand.
Data protection
  • Contains only the owner's business details.
  • Every contact is made personally by the owner.
What we never do
  • No automatic sending.
  • No mailing lists of journalists.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.
F08Gig Guide · Art. 30 V40Entries closed

"Lost & found" at the venue

'Black scarf, Friday, Club X' — the owner finds it through Noktürn and remembers the site.

Example

A guest leaves a black scarf at a Friday concert at Odonien. The venue posts on Noktürn: 'Black scarf, Friday, Odonien'. The guest reads it, comes by, proves at the bar that it is hers and gets it back. No names, no photos of people — and the entry deletes itself after 30 days.

How it works
  • The venue posts a short notice, for example 'black scarf, Friday, Club X'.
  • The owner of the item collects it at the venue.
Data protection
  • Only item description, place and date.
  • Entries are deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • Collection only against proof of ownership at the venue.
What we never do
  • No names, no contact details, no photos of people.
  • Noktürn stores no found items.
Open before release
  • Privacy-policy section from the consultant.
  • Matching row in the Verfahrensverzeichnis.

Scene Curators

Trusted locals who curate a handful of picks for their town — rewarded with title and reach, never with money.

Example

Sven, a long-time Köln jazz regular, is invited personally by the owner and signs a curator agreement. He gets the badge 'Curator · Köln · Jam Session' and picks, say, five dates a month — for instance the Wednesday session in the Kellerbühne. His name appears openly next to his picks. He never receives money, never promises anything and can never be paid by a venue to place a pick.

How it works
  • Noktürn's owner — the operator of this site, never a venue owner — invites each curator personally and countersigns a written curator agreement.
  • They get a public curator name (or pseudonym), a town, a badge, and a short profile line.
  • They pick a small number of events per month; picks appear as an openly labelled curated selection.
  • Reward is status and reach only: badge levels, their name on the picks, a curator page, early access to new features, and a yearly public thank-you.
Data protection
  • Signed-in users only; every entry is checked by the owner before anything becomes public.
  • Sanctions screening on applications; doubtful matches are held for the owner.
  • Draft privacy section 5.12 prepared for the consultant.
What we never do
  • No cash, no commission, no revenue share, no free tickets sold on, no tip collection.
  • A curator never quotes a price, never invoices, never takes money and never promises anything in Noktürn's name.
  • Curated picks are never for sale; paid visibility can never buy a pick.
  • Every curated list carries a one-line ranking-transparency note.
Open before release
  • Curator agreement countersigned (draft ready at Admin → Curator agreement).
  • Privacy section 5.12 signed off.
  • Ranking-transparency note reviewed against § 5a UWG / P2B.

Community Event Card

A check-in at a participating event in any of the eleven moods counts toward a signed, single-use voucher the venue can verify.

Example

At a Friday gig at the Kellerbühne, Anna taps 'I'm here' — but only while her phone is inside the venue's small radius. After, say, five check-ins she receives a signed voucher. The bar's screen checks the signature and hands over the venue's own thank-you, for example a free soft drink. Noktürn pays nothing, keeps no movement history and nobody can redeem the voucher twice.

How it works
  • One check-in per person per event, only inside a small geofence around the venue, confirmed by the person tapping a button.
  • We keep a counter and the event reference — not a movement history.
  • A voucher is a short signed token: fan reference, venue, event, expiry. The bar's screen verifies the signature and marks it used.
  • Signed with a stored secret that has no fallback value in the code; if the secret is missing the feature refuses to issue anything.
  • Each voucher is single-use and locked against double redemption on the server.
Data protection
  • Signed-in users only; every entry is checked by the owner before anything becomes public.
  • Sanctions screening on applications; doubtful matches are held for the owner.
  • Draft privacy section 5.13 prepared for the consultant.
What we never do
  • No background location, no continuous tracking, no push notifications, no SMS.
  • No money moves through Noktürn: any thank-you is the venue's own goodwill, not a Noktürn payment.
  • No voucher secret in the source code, no default key, no client-side signing.
Open before release
  • Voucher secret stored as a server secret before any token is issued.
  • Privacy section 5.13 signed off.
  • Venue agreement wording on who provides any thank-you (the venue, never Noktürn).

Gig-Pooling notice board

A plain notice board where people going to the same gig can arrange to travel together themselves.

Example

Ben posts under a concert at Odonien: 'From Aachen, Friday, driving, 2 seats'. Klara, who is going too, answers through the site's own message relay — her phone number stays hidden until she herself chooses to share it. They agree between themselves; the post disappears automatically once the concert is over. Noktürn organises no ride and takes no money.

How it works
  • A person posts a town, a rough departure area, a time and a free-text note against one event.
  • Other attendees answer through the site's own message relay; contact details stay hidden until both sides agree.
  • Posts disappear automatically once the event is over.
Data protection
  • Signed-in users only; every entry is checked by the owner before anything becomes public.
  • Sanctions screening on applications; doubtful matches are held for the owner.
  • Draft privacy section 5.14 prepared for the consultant.
What we never do
  • No ride-hailing, no seat pricing, no payment, no cost splitting inside Noktürn, no driver rating, no live vehicle location.
  • Noktürn is not a transport intermediary and carries no passenger transport role — transport ticketing stays permanently out of scope.
Open before release
  • Privacy section 5.14 signed off.
  • Terms wording that the arrangement is strictly between the people involved.

Live Event Beacon

An admitted event host or performer in any of the eleven moods can place a pin saying an event is happening here now; it erases itself after two hours.

Example

A saxophonist playing on the Ring boulevards taps 'Playing now · Jam Session' — by hand, never automatically. A street-level pin appears (no exact address, no real name required) and erases itself two hours later. If she feels unsafe, one tap of the panic stop removes the pin and her visibility instantly. No booking, no tip jar, no tracking.

How it works
  • Only a manually admitted adult contact may drop a pin, and only by hand — never automatically, never in the background.
  • The person selects one of all eleven moods. The pin is street-level only (rounded position), shows an event or stage name, and carries no home address.
  • It erases itself two hours after it was dropped; a scheduled cleanup removes the row, and an expired pin is never shown.
  • A panic stop removes the pin and the busker's visibility instantly, from any screen.
  • Before the first pin the responsible person confirms the event may take place there; for busking they also confirm any municipal permission their town requires.
Data protection
  • Signed-in users only; every entry is checked by the owner before anything becomes public.
  • Sanctions screening on applications; doubtful matches are held for the owner.
  • Draft privacy section 5.15 prepared for the consultant.
What we never do
  • No live continuous tracking, no location history, no real name required in public, no crowd calls, no push alerts.
  • No booking, ticket sale, tip jar or money routing inside the beacon. For busking, even an outward tip link remains off pending separate review.
Open before release
  • Lawyer's clearance on real-time event location, personal safety (panic stop, pseudonym, street-level only), local event and busking permissions worldwide, liability for gatherings, no in-house tip jar, and mandatory access review.
  • Privacy section 5.15 signed off.
  • Two-hour auto-erase verified end to end in a live test.

Scene Scouts (verified local guide badge)

Regulars who confirm visits in one town earn a renewable local-guide badge — they flag and recommend, Noktürn's owner decides.

Example

Rita goes to the open mic at Echtzeit and confirms her visit by hand — a simple yes/no check while she is inside the venue's small radius. After, say, 20 confirmed visits in Köln she earns the 'Local guide · Köln' badge. She may flag a doubtful listing as a suggestion — but only the owner can act on it. No background location, no cash, and individual visit records are deleted after 90 days.

How it works
  • Joining is a separate opt-in; a visit is confirmed by hand at the venue, as a yes/no check inside a small radius.
  • Only a per-town counter is kept; individual visit records are deleted after 90 days.
  • The badge follows a rule written down in advance, expires after 12 months without activity, and can be earned again.
  • Scouts may flag doubtful scraped listings and recommend strong independent ones.
  • Reward is status and reach only: badge, town name, standing in the scene.
Data protection
  • Signed-in users only; every entry is checked by the owner before anything becomes public.
  • Sanctions screening on applications; doubtful matches are held for the owner.
  • Draft privacy section 5.16 prepared for the consultant.
What we never do
  • No scout ever deletes or downranks a listing: under the DSA every content decision stays with Noktürn's owner.
  • No background location, no movement history, no coordinates kept, no push, no SMS.
  • Community Event Card check-ins (5.13) are never reused for the badge without a separate consent.
  • No cash, no commission, no free tickets sold on.
Open before release
  • Privacy section 5.16 signed off and the Art. 30 row V19 written.
  • Separate consent wording for reusing Community Event Card check-ins.
  • Written badge rule plus a human objection route, so it stays outside Art. 22 GDPR.
  • Moderation screen shows scout flags as suggestions Noktürn's owner confirms.

Independent Gig Exchange

A free notice board where touring acts and small venues find each other and contract entirely off-platform.

Example

A three-piece from Hamburg posts: 'Free 12–14 December, punk, full backline, 3 people'. A small Köln club answers through the site's message relay. They agree on the fee, GEMA and Künstlersozialkasse dues directly between themselves — the board prints the standing note on every post. Noktürn signs nothing, matches nothing and takes no commission.

How it works
  • An act or a venue posts town, date or tour window, style, line-up size, technical notes and a business contact route.
  • The other side answers through the site's own relay; contact details stay hidden until both agree.
  • Every post carries the standing note: fee, GEMA and Künstlersozialkasse dues, withholding tax for foreign performers and posting paperwork are settled directly between venue and act.
  • Posts expire with the stated period, at the latest after 6 months.
Data protection
  • Signed-in users only; every entry is checked by the owner before anything becomes public.
  • Sanctions screening on applications; doubtful matches are held for the owner.
  • Draft privacy section 5.17 prepared for the consultant.
What we never do
  • No fee is charged for this, no commission, no contract handling, no payment, no ratings.
  • No algorithmic matchmaking and no shortlisting — the board publishes what people typed, nothing more.
  • Noktürn is never a party to the booking and never an artist agency or employment intermediary.
Open before release
  • Privacy section 5.17 signed off and the Art. 30 row V20 written.
  • Lawyer's confirmation on the delimitation from artist placement (no charge, no matching, no contract handling).
  • Terms wording plus the GEMA / tax / posting note reviewed.
